Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.
The Lodge Office structure was built in 1915 by the famous sculptor, Warren Wheelock, who spent his summers there sculpting and painting with his artist friends from New York and Chicago. The Lodge was built by Guy Huskins in 1937 when he purchased the property and has been in our family since then. The Lodge has 9 rooms with outdoor decks and 5 cottages (all with outdoor covered decks), including the Manor House that has 6 bedrooms. We also have a stone fire pit in our gardens that has become a popular gathering spot for our guests. The Village of Linville Falls is a historic community that became one of the High Country’s well-known tourism destinations after the Blue Ridge Parkway was built.

The Belle at Avery, built in 1890 is located in historic downtown Morganton NC. The combination of Colonial Revival and Victorian era design elements are maintained in this newly renovated home. This property was formerly a school, a bed and breakfast and is a short walk to craft breweries, restaurants, music venues and everything downtown Morganton has to offer.
No doubt about it camp can be fun. Paddling through a rapid on the Tuckasegee can be incredibly exciting. However, camp can also be pretty challenging. In order to get to that fun rapid you have to work with a partner to maneuver your boat around rocks, shoals, and other hazards. Often it’s hot and thunderstorms roll in. Sometimes you get pinned on a rock. Sometimes you flip. But if you persevere the rewards are great and you will become stronger. From the beginning Camp Grier has been about accepting the challenge and persevering through the many obstacles that undoubtedly come our way. The mountains will teach us and those lessons will remain with us throughout our lives.

Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. Charlie and Kathy, two of three owners, enjoyed making grape wine and beer at home. After suffering with tinnitus and hearing loss, Charlie discovered that he had a gluten allergy that was the cause. This resulted in him o longer able to drink beer. So Charlie and Kathy started to make mead – “the Nectar of the gods.” Using honey from their own bee hives they began producing amazingly good tasting mead.
We’re just off I-40, with easy access to outdoor activities. Pisgah National Forest, Lake James State Park, and South Mountains State Park are within half an hour; Grandfather Mountain and Linville Gorge are about an hour away. Nestled in the South Mountains of Western North Carolina, Apple Hill Orchard is conveniently located just south of Morganton, NC. Our family has been growing apples in this location since 1955, and the orchard its self dates to 1930!

One of those places that stand apart from the ordinary, Mount Mitchell’s dramatic summit is the highest point east of the Mississippi at 6,684 feet and was inspiration for one of the nation’s first state parks. From its easily accessible observation deck, the spruce-fir forest of Mount Mitchell State Park leads the eye to unmatched views. A museum explains the mountain’s cultural and natural history, and its trail network allows visitors to explore up close, offering short hikes near the summit and challenging treks leading to adjacent wilderness areas. A nine-site tent campground is open in warm-weather months, and backpacking opportunities abound, including entry onto the Mountains-to-Sea State Trail. A concession area and a full-service restaurant serve visitors from May to October.
Located in Yancey County 30 miles northeast of Asheville, Mount Mitchell State Park was the genesis of North Carolina’s state parks system.
