The Linville Gorge Wilderness, in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is part of the Pisgah National Forest. The gorge is formed by the Jonas Ridge on the east and Linville Mountain on the west and is bisected by the Linville River which drops 2,000 feet into the valleys below. The terrain is steep and rugged with numerous rock formations. It is covered by dense hardwood/pine forest and a wide variety of smaller trees and other plants. Recreation opportunities include hiking backpacking, rock climbing, fishing and hunting.

The Lodge Office structure was built in 1915 by the famous sculptor, Warren Wheelock, who spent his summers there sculpting and painting with his artist friends from New York and Chicago. The Lodge was built by Guy Huskins in 1937 when he purchased the property and has been in our family since then. The Lodge has 9 rooms with outdoor decks and 5 cottages (all with outdoor covered decks), including the Manor House that has 6 bedrooms. We also have a stone fire pit in our gardens that has become a popular gathering spot for our guests. The Village of Linville Falls is a historic community that became one of the High Country’s well-known tourism destinations after the Blue Ridge Parkway was built.

We are a family campground nestled in the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains and our camping season begins the first weekend in April and ends the last weekend in October every year. We are available for nightly & weekly camping. We offer level, spacious lots with full hook-up on all sites with no limit on camper size. We offer two pull-through lots to accommodate your needs. Terry and Debbie Perry own and operate Perry’s Berry’s Vineyard & Winery. What started as a way to bring our family closer together has grown into a passion to help others experience the same. Terry spent many summers picking blueberries in the mountains of North Carolina. Debbie’s descends from a farming family. The Perry’s desire for their four grandchildren to experience the joy of picking blueberries grew into a family business. In 2013, with the help of family and friends the Perry’s opened their blueberry farm to the public.
The farm was established in 2009.
The Perry’s have planted over 3500 blueberry bushes. In addition to offering pick your own blueberries, they supply blueberries to local breweries, grocery stores, bakeries and ice cream shops. There are several bee hives located throughout the farm for pollination of the berries. You will also find Scuppernong and Muscadine grapes, as well as pears, apples, plum and cherry trees on the farm.
Perry’s Berry’s Winery was added in July 2020. We are excited to offer our Blueberry Wine made with 100% blueberries from our farm.
Take Highway 181 North from Morganton toward the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, and turn left at the first campground you spot. Take the gravel road past the nursery to Rose Creek Family Campground.

The Linville River flows from its headwaters high on the steep slopes of Grandfather Mountain and cascades through two falls as it begins a nearly 2,000 foot descent through this rugged and spectacularly beautiful gorge. Known by the Cherokee as “the river of many cliffs,” Linville Gorge was the nation’s first officially designated wilderness area. Towering hemlocks, dense stands of rhododendron, and native wildflowers grow along the trails that begin at the visitor center and encircle the falls.
McDowell Local is a family-owned restaurant led by owner/operator Aaron Mathews. With over 30 years in the restaurant industry, Aaron has worn every hat possible, from dishwasher to waitstaff to owner of two restaurants.
