The Linville River flows from its headwaters high on the steep slopes of Grandfather Mountain and cascades through two falls as it begins a nearly 2,000 foot descent through this rugged and spectacularly beautiful gorge. Known by the Cherokee as “the river of many cliffs,” Linville Gorge was the nation’s first officially designated wilderness area. Towering hemlocks, dense stands of rhododendron, and native wildflowers grow along the trails that begin at the visitor center and encircle the falls.

Charlie and Kathy, two of three owners, enjoyed making grape wine and beer at home. After suffering with tinnitus and hearing loss, Charlie discovered that he had a gluten allergy that was the cause.  This resulted in him o longer able to drink beer.  So  Charlie and Kathy started to make mead – “the Nectar of the gods.”   Using honey from their own bee hives they began producing amazingly good tasting mead.

The Lodge Office structure was built in 1915 by the famous sculptor, Warren Wheelock, who spent his summers there sculpting and painting with his artist friends from New York and Chicago. The Lodge was built by Guy Huskins in 1937 when he purchased the property and has been in our family since then. The Lodge has 9 rooms with outdoor decks and 5 cottages (all with outdoor covered decks), including the Manor House that has 6 bedrooms. We also have a stone fire pit in our gardens that has become a popular gathering spot for our guests. The Village of Linville Falls is a historic community that became one of the High Country’s well-known tourism destinations after the Blue Ridge Parkway was built.

Because we love feeding our growing community, that means we needed a little more elbow space and we made the big decision to move our location to the old Fatz Café right across the street! We’ve dug in deep to clean, remodel, redecorate, and hire (yay for creating jobs!) in order to serve you better with an exciting new menu that includes the same high-quality foods you’ve grown to love! We’re adding steaks, seafood, pasta, and more with a full-service restaurant and bar, as well as lots of fun artwork that reflects what we love most about our community and state.

Expanding means we had to order lots of new equipment, and unfortunately this pandemic caused unexpected delays in delivery. If we’ve learned anything through this, it’s to adjust, adapt, and come up with an alternate plan!

Beginning Tuesday August 25^th, J. Hartman’s Restaurant will open under the same concept as Holly’s Deli with the same menu, but at our new location. Initially our hours will be: Monday – Saturday 10:30am-4:00pm. The best part is we have much more space for customers to stay healthy and socially distance, while still enjoying a yummy lunch menu! The Parkview Lodge is a historic roadside motel located on Hwy 221 in Linville Falls, just one block from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The motel and cabins are family-owned (under new ownership) and being renovated with new furnishings and more.

Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.

The Skyline Village Inn has been a landmark adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway for 70 years. In 1938 John Greer bought the land next to the Parkway and started making moonshine in a cavern just off the road on what is now NC 226 Alt. The US Government had begun construction of the Parkway only 3 years prior and had plans to construct a bridge over NC 26 (now 226A). John made plans to construct a gas station and store alongside the Parkway. He funded these plans with the money he made selling moonshine.

Hike to the Beacon Heights summit off the Blue Ridge Parkway, catching stunning views of Grandfather Mountain from a pair of rocky overlooks and exploring a beautiful, rocky, mossy forest.

Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 4 miles south of the Linn Cove Viaduct, is the short self-guiding Flat Rock loop trail that provides easy access to the rocky summit of Flat Rock where you have spectacular views of the Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Valley. This beautiful walk through the forest is only about 7/10th’s of a mile and has numerous informative signs along the trail.

We serve breakfast and lunch at The Tartan every day, from 7 am til 2 pm.

Located on the side of Grassy Mountain at an elevation of 3,200 feet, the Alpine Inn is one mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway (milepost 334) in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. We have 12 charming, comfortable rooms, including eight with balconies. Some rooms have two double beds, others have one queen bed. All rooms have private bathrooms, desk and chairs, free Wifi, and windows that open to let in cool, fresh mountain air.
