Two National Forests-114 Miles-1 Grisly Murder
The Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride is an exhilarating and thrilling adventure that takes riders through the picturesque yet mysterious landscapes of North Carolina. This ride combines the adrenaline rush of motorcycle riding with the intrigue of exploring the infamous Murder of Charlie Silvers took place in 1830. Riders will navigate winding roads, dense forests, and breathtaking vistas, all while immersing themselves in the captivating history and legends surrounding this enigmatic place. Thus calling the ride “Murder Mountain Run”, as the motorcycle travels by the church were there are three headstones for different body parts found after the incident. The ride is 114 miles long and meanders from the Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland area, south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to NC 80. After a short ride on US Hwy 19E, it turns north on NC 80 through Kona, where the infamous murder happened before Christmas in 1831. The legend is told that Frankie Silvers wife to Charlie Silvers, killed her husband with an axe in a fit of jealous rage. Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride promises to deliver an unforgettable journey filled with excitement, beauty, and a touch of mystery.

130 curves-22 Miles-Largest Dam East of the Rockies
TheHellbender28.com motorcycle road is located in North Carolina and is a 22-mile ride between Johnson Gap in Stecoah, NC traveling to Deals Gap at the beginning of the Dragon. From Johnson Gap, The Hellbender starts its way through the beautiful smoky mountains with challenging turns for cars and motorcyclists. On the way you will pass by several unique locations such as Fontana Lake where there are pull-offs to take a photo of the views. Then continuing on you will cross the top of the Fontana Dam, and Fontana Lake. This dam was created as a hydro electrical power facility for World War II by the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1942. The dam is 480 feet high and 2,365 feet across the Little Tennessee River and is the highest dam east of the Rocky Mountains. The 2000 plus famous hiking trail, the Appalachian Trail also crosses the top of Fontana Dam. After passing Fontana Village, a peaceful lake resort you end up at the end of this 22-mile run which dead ends in to highway US129 the beginning of Dragon.

There are 4-5 restaurants within 4-7 miles, and many more a little further out. The High Country offers everything from country food to gourmet. For those who love country food there is the famous Daniel Boone Inn (in Boone), and Louise’s Rock House in Linville Falls. For those that enjoy fine dining there is the upscale Artisanal in Banner Elk (seasonal – Top 100 Restaurants in the USA), the Gamekeeper in Boone, and Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock. For all others there are plenty of choices. It is best to make a reservation for most better restaurants (several weeks ahead in July and October). The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride is a thrilling journey through the picturesque foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Riders can expect sweeping curves, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, a perfect balance of challenging twists and turns, combined with serene natural beauty. The finished highways of the Foothills Parkway are divided into four parts. Each part that is completed is some of the most beautiful landscapes in all four seasons and worth the effort in making it a worthwhile ride. The Western Segment is 33 miles at the southern portion of the parkway from US129 in Chilhowee TN to US 321 in Wears Valley TN. This section can be easily accessed after taking the US129DragonsTail.com or “Tail of the Dragon” motorcycle ride. The Eastern Segment is 5.6 miles at the most northern portion and can be accessed from Interstate I-40 from Hartford TN traveling towards Cosby TN. The third segment completed they call the “Foothills Parkway Spur” which is 4.3 miles long and starts in Gatlinburg and ends in Pigeon Forge. The remainder, “Missing Link” section is still being constructed. The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride promises an unforgettable experience for all who embark on it. Boulevard Barbeque was founded in 2019 by Michael Samolinski and Alexander Randall, both of whom originally resided in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.

Beginning Tuesday August 25th, J. Hartman’s Restaurant will open under the same concept as Holly’s Deli with the same menu, but at our new location. Initially our hours will be: Monday – Saturday 10:30am-4:00pm. The best part is we have much more space for customers to stay healthy and socially distance, while still enjoying a yummy lunch menu! Chattahoochee Forest-50 Miles-Best Ride in Georgia
TheGeorgiaDragon.com motorcycle ride is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Georgia with its 50.5 miles of twisties, curves and magnificent scenery is definitely one of the best motorcycle roads in Georgia. For my motorcycle rides we will go with the local name aka Georgia Dragon as I have another great ride called the SuchesLoop.com. Seasoned Motorcycle riders will find the road challenging due to the elevation changes. Take this ride a bit slower to enjoy the spectacular scenery. TheGeorgiaDragon.com motorcycle ride starts in the town of Dahlonega (First major US town gold rush back in 1828) and runs north on Route 60, then merging with US-19 and then turn right on to Route 180 called Wolfpen Gap Road steep elevation changes and switchbacks. The ride continues through the mountains to US Highway 129/19. Then make a right and head south back to Dahlonega to complete the Georgia Dragon!

The Lodge Office structure was built in 1915 by the famous sculptor, Warren Wheelock, who spent his summers there sculpting and painting with his artist friends from New York and Chicago. The Lodge was built by Guy Huskins in 1937 when he purchased the property and has been in our family since then. The Lodge has 9 rooms with outdoor decks and 5 cottages (all with outdoor covered decks), including the Manor House that has 6 bedrooms. We also have a stone fire pit in our gardens that has become a popular gathering spot for our guests. Charlie and Kathy, two of three owners, enjoyed making grape wine and beer at home. After suffering with tinnitus and hearing loss, Charlie discovered that he had a gluten allergy that was the cause. This resulted in him o longer able to drink beer. So Charlie and Kathy started to make mead – “the Nectar of the gods.” Using honey from their own bee hives they began producing amazingly good tasting mead.

There are 4-5 restaurants within 4-7 miles, and many more a little further out. The High Country offers everything from country food to gourmet. For those who love country food there is the famous Daniel Boone Inn (in Boone), and Louise’s Rock House in Linville Falls. For those that enjoy fine dining there is the upscale Artisanal in Banner Elk (seasonal – Top 100 Restaurants in the USA), the Gamekeeper in Boone, and Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock. For all others there are plenty of choices. It is best to make a reservation for most better restaurants (several weeks ahead in July and October). You can look under our “Nearby” tab (scroll all the way down) for specific restaurant suggestions.
In the evenings, when the weather is nice, you can sit by the fire-pit and roast marshmallows while you check out the star-filled sky, and catch up with your loved ones. When it’s too cold, you can sip hot chocolate or wine in your cozy sitting area.
Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.

We are a family campground nestled in the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains and our camping season begins the first weekend in April and ends the last weekend in October every year. Built in 1921, the Blue Ridge Boutique Hotel is housed in the former Spruce Pine Elementary School building. It sits alongside the Toe River and is connected by a foot bridge to downtown Spruce Pine.

The Skyline Village Inn has been a landmark adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway for 70 years. In 1938 John Greer bought the land next to the Parkway and started making moonshine in a cavern just off the road on what is now NC 226 Alt. The US Government had begun construction of the Parkway only 3 years prior and had plans to construct a bridge over NC 26 (now 226A). John made plans to construct a gas station and store alongside the Parkway. He funded these plans with the money he made selling moonshine.

A rocky creek winds through the woods at the base of several hikable peaks hidden just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, bobcat, coyote, bear, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor. When you’re at Tanglewood you may feel a million miles away from it all but you are conveniently close to some of the Blue Ridge mountains most treasured gems (see some of our favorite local attractions here). From sightseeing, hiking and tubing to shopping, dining, even wine tasting, the following are just a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; drive the Blue Ridge parkway; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines and Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk make them each wonderful day-trip destinations as well.
Two National Forests-114 Miles-1 Grisly Murder
The Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride is an exhilarating and thrilling adventure that takes riders through the picturesque yet mysterious landscapes of North Carolina. This ride combines the adrenaline rush of motorcycle riding with the intrigue of exploring the infamous Murder of Charlie Silvers took place in 1830. Riders will navigate winding roads, dense forests, and breathtaking vistas, all while immersing themselves in the captivating history and legends surrounding this enigmatic place. Thus calling the ride “Murder Mountain Run”, as the motorcycle travels by the church were there are three headstones for different body parts found after the incident. The ride is 114 miles long and meanders from the Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland area, south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to NC 80. After a short ride on US Hwy 19E, it turns north on NC 80 through Kona, where the infamous murder happened before Christmas in 1831. The legend is told that Frankie Silvers wife to Charlie Silvers, killed her husband with an axe in a fit of jealous rage. Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride promises to deliver an unforgettable journey filled with excitement, beauty, and a touch of mystery.

Terry and Debbie Perry own and operate Perry’s Berry’s Vineyard & Winery. What started as a way to bring our family closer together has grown into a passion to help others experience the same. Terry spent many summers picking blueberries in the mountains of North Carolina. Debbie’s descends from a farming family. The Perry’s desire for their four grandchildren to experience the joy of picking blueberries grew into a family business. In 2013, with the help of family and friends the Perry’s opened their blueberry farm to the public.
The farm was established in 2009.
The Perry’s have planted over 3500 blueberry bushes. In addition to offering pick your own blueberries, they supply blueberries to local breweries, grocery stores, bakeries and ice cream shops. There are several bee hives located throughout the farm for pollination of the berries. You will also find Scuppernong and Muscadine grapes, as well as pears, apples, plum and cherry trees on the farm.
Perry’s Berry’s Winery was added in July 2020. We are excited to offer our Blueberry Wine made with 100% blueberries from our farm.
