For those that enjoy fine dining there is the upscale Artisanal in Banner Elk (seasonal – Top 100 Restaurants in the USA), the Gamekeeper in Boone, and Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock. For all others there are plenty of choices. It is best to make a reservation for most better restaurants (several weeks ahead in July and October). You can look under our “Nearby” tab (scroll all the way down) for specific restaurant suggestions.
In the evenings, when the weather is nice, you can sit by the fire-pit and roast marshmallows while you check out the star-filled sky, and catch up with your loved ones. When it’s too cold, you can sip hot chocolate or wine in your cozy sitting area.

The Linville Gorge Wilderness, in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is part of the Pisgah National Forest. The gorge is formed by the Jonas Ridge on the east and Linville Mountain on the west and is bisected by the Linville River which drops 2,000 feet into the valleys below. For those who love country food there is the famous Daniel Boone Inn (in Boone), and Louise’s Rock House in Linville Falls. For those that enjoy fine dining there is the upscale Artisanal in Banner Elk (seasonal – Top 100 Restaurants in the USA), the Gamekeeper in Boone, and Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock. For all others there are plenty of choices. It is best to make a reservation for most better restaurants (several weeks ahead in July and October). Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. It had been in the Johnson family for as long as anyone can remember. Crossnore Communities for Children thanks the Johnson family for their longtime support!
