While all locations of Crossnore Communities for Children could be called Miracle Grounds, the particular building that is home to the Coffee Shop has occupied a colorful place in the history of the town of Crossnore, NC.
Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. It had been in the Johnson family for as long as anyone can remember. Crossnore Communities for Children thanks the Johnson family for their longtime support!

The Pixie Motor Inn is a family owned and operated motel just one Block from the Intersection of U.S. 221 & N. C. 105. It is located in Avery County at the base of Pixie Mountain at 4150 Mitchell Avenue in Linville, North Carolina, a small resort town tucked away in the Blue Mountains. The Pixie Motor Inn is said to be “In the shadow of famous Grandfather Mountain,” which is two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway Viaduct. Owned by the Hughes family, the Pixie Motor Inn has 25 modern clean grade A rooms, telephones and cable TV. A Pixie Inn postcard from the 1960s stated the inn was “Air-conditioned by Nature.” They have since installed air conditioning in all the rooms. The Pixie Motor Inn also provides play areas for children, free ice for cooler, convenient access to championship golf courses and local restaurants (The Tartan Restaurant is next door at 1 Hemingway Drive).
Within a short walk of the Pixie Motor Inn one can find the Pixie Beauty Salon at 30 Coffey Road, and across the street from the Pixie Inn, there is a seasonal produce stand named “Pixie Produce.” Rolling up behind the Pixie Motor Inn is Pixie Mountain. The mountain’s summit reaches an elevation of 4,058 feet (1,237 m). The Linville Bypass (NC Hwy 181) goes around Pixie Mountain on its western side. The mountain is adjacent to the Linville River.

Grand View Campground & RV Park is a 56-acre property located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on Highway 226 in Casar, North Carolina. The campground is adjacent to the gorgeous First Broad River.
Our shop resides in what was once an iconic greasy spoon in our community. The restaurant was home to the “Liars Table,” an open table where anyone could pull up a chair, order a cup of coffee and be sure to hear some tall tales.
Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.
A steep, 0.8-mile trail leads to this cascading waterfall. The trail is open only to hikers. Upper Creek Falls is located in the Jonas Ridge Area of Burke County. Trails leading to the top and bottom of the falls are popular among sunbathers, swimmers, and fishermen, so plan on having company unless you arrive earlier.

Now, let’s get down to the details: our 74 RV sites are currently sprawled across 48 acres of land, with a half-mile frontage set along a beautiful mountain stream. Located in Burke and McDowell counties 50 miles northeast of Asheville, Lake James State Park includes two areas to access this picturesque lake that is perfect for boating, swimming, and fishing. Campsites at both Catawba River and Paddy’s Creek accesses provide an opportunity to spend the night by the lake, with some sites accessible only by paddling. Trails include bike trails at Paddy’s Creek, the kid-friendly Holly Discovery Trail, the historic Overmountain Victory Trail, and the Fonta Flora State Trail.

Because we love feeding our growing community, that means we needed a little more elbow space and we made the big decision to move our location to the old Fatz Café right across the street! We’ve dug in deep to clean, remodel, redecorate, and hire (yay for creating jobs!) in order to serve you better with an exciting new menu that includes the same high-quality foods you’ve grown to love! While all locations of Crossnore Communities for Children could be called Miracle Grounds, the particular building that is home to the Coffee Shop has occupied a colorful place in the history of the town of Crossnore, NC.
Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. It had been in the Johnson family for as long as anyone can remember. Crossnore Communities for Children thanks the Johnson family for their longtime support!
Our friend, Conrad, selects the coffees from all over the world and roasts them in nearby Boone, North Carolina. The Pixie Motor Inn is a family owned and operated motel just one Block from the Intersection of U.S. 221 & N. C. 105. It is located in Avery County at the base of Pixie Mountain at 4150 Mitchell Avenue in Linville, North Carolina, a small resort town tucked away in the Blue Mountains. The Pixie Motor Inn is said to be “In the shadow of famous Grandfather Mountain,” which is two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway Viaduct. Owned by the Hughes family, the Pixie Motor Inn has 25 modern clean grade A rooms, telephones and cable TV. A Pixie Inn postcard from the 1960s stated the inn was “Air-conditioned by Nature.” They have since installed air conditioning in all the rooms. The Pixie Motor Inn also provides play areas for children, free ice for cooler, convenient access to championship golf courses and local restaurants (The Tartan Restaurant is next door at 1 Hemingway Drive).
Within a short walk of the Pixie Motor Inn one can find the Pixie Beauty Salon at 30 Coffey Road, and across the street from the Pixie Inn, there is a seasonal produce stand named “Pixie Produce.” Rolling up behind the Pixie Motor Inn is Pixie Mountain. The mountain’s summit reaches an elevation of 4,058 feet (1,237 m). The Linville Bypass (NC Hwy 181) goes around Pixie Mountain on its western side. The mountain is adjacent to the Linville River.

No doubt about it camp can be fun. Paddling through a rapid on the Tuckasegee can be incredibly exciting. However, camp can also be pretty challenging. Sometimes you get pinned on a rock. Sometimes you flip. But if you persevere the rewards are great and you will become stronger. From the beginning Camp Grier has been about accepting the challenge and persevering through the many obstacles that undoubtedly come our way. Black Mountain Campground sits in the shadow of Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak in the eastern U.S. and borders the South Toe River. Black Mountain is a mecca for the outdoor enthusiast.
If you’re looking for lodging near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore Estate, or the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock State Park area, the Inn on Mill Creek is centrally located between the three. Day trips to Biltmore and Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell State Park (home of the highest peak in the eastern United States), Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, the North Carolina Arboretum, and Chimney Rock State Park are easy using the inn as your home base during your North Carolina mountain getaway.
The Park is at about 1800′ elevation in the middle of the Pisgah National Forest, nestled in a narrow valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. Beautiful Buck Creek flows through this valley and along two sides of the campground. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only about 3 miles away, but it’s 5 miles by road.
Improvements to the Catawba falls trail includes 580 stairs, three overlooks and a 60-foot observation tower to take hikers to the upper falls. The new Catawba Falls Ridge Trail allows hikers at the upper falls to return to the parking lot for a total loop distance of 3.5 miles.

One of those places that stand apart from the ordinary, Mount Mitchell’s dramatic summit is the highest point east of the Mississippi at 6,684 feet and was inspiration for one of the nation’s first state parks. From its easily accessible observation deck, the spruce-fir forest of Mount Mitchell State Park leads the eye to unmatched views. A museum explains the mountain’s cultural and natural history, and its trail network allows visitors to explore up close, offering short hikes near the summit and challenging treks leading to adjacent wilderness areas. A nine-site tent campground is open in warm-weather months, and backpacking opportunities abound, including entry onto the Mountains-to-Sea State Trail. A concession area and a full-service restaurant serve visitors from May to October.

Because we love feeding our growing community, that means we needed a little more elbow space and we made the big decision to move our location to the old Fatz Café right across the street! We’ve dug in deep to clean, remodel, redecorate, and hire (yay for creating jobs!) in order to serve you better with an exciting new menu that includes the same high-quality foods you’ve grown to love! We’re adding steaks, seafood, pasta, and more with a full-service restaurant and bar, as well as lots of fun artwork that reflects what we love most about our community and state.
Expanding means we had to order lots of new equipment, and unfortunately this pandemic caused unexpected delays in delivery. If we’ve learned anything through this, it’s to adjust, adapt, and come up with an alternate plan!
Beginning Tuesday August 25th, J. Hartman’s Restaurant will open under the same concept as Holly’s Deli with the same menu, but at our new location. Initially our hours will be: Monday – Saturday 10:30am-4:00pm. The best part is we have much more space for customers to stay healthy and socially distance, while still enjoying a yummy lunch menu! Charlie and Kathy, two of three owners, enjoyed making grape wine and beer at home. After suffering with tinnitus and hearing loss, Charlie discovered that he had a gluten allergy that was the cause. This resulted in him o longer able to drink beer. So Charlie and Kathy started to make mead – “the Nectar of the gods.” Using honey from their own bee hives they began producing amazingly good tasting mead.
